Sometimes life is difficult. When you have to deal with challenging situations, it can be hard to see the bright side of things. Life also becomes more complicated when everything you do isn't as good as it could be. But you've found your way through challenging times before, and you'll succeed again in the future.Even in the toughest situations, you can usually do things to create a sense of relief.
Use these tips to help you in getting through hard times and get back on your feet:
1. Focus on what you CAN control. Don't worry about what you CAN'T.
There are things that we cannot control - the actions of others, the weather, the stock market can all be unpredictable. Fortunately, there are things we CAN control. Put your energy and focus into these, and you'll see a difference. Spending time worrying about things simply outside your control is a waste of your time and energy. Your time is limited, so make the most of it. The most successful people spend their time in the smartest way, and they do this by focusing on what matters to them, not things outside their control.
2. Everything you've gone through before is evidence of your resilience and determination to succeed. You can overcome this challenge too.
Many people have faced the same challenge and gone on to succeed. You're capable and resilient, and nothing has changed about that. This task might be complex, but you can do it by reminding yourself of everything you've already overcome.
3. Take a deep breath.
When feeling overwhelmed, try to find your grounding by focusing on your breath. Feel the air moving in and out of your body. Spend some time on this, and soon you will feel better. Deep breathing reduces stress by calming your nervous system. It will calm you down and get rid of excess energy that's been stored up in your body. It will also give you a moment to think about what's working for you.
4. Practice Self-care.
When getting through hard times, it can be tempting to neglect ourselves. It's easy to think that grooming, eating, and sleeping habits don't matter at a time like this. However, that's not true. No matter what's been happening, make it a priority to take care of yourself. You still need healthy food, enough sleep, and care for yourself to perform at your best.
5. Say "No."
When times are tough, don't take on any new responsibilities. The best way to do this is to stop saying yes too quickly. Be firm when you say "no," and don't be concerned about upsetting others. Give your attention to yourself by focusing on what's most important to you and what you need at that moment.
The power of laughter is incomparable. It gives you hope, and it feels good. What makes you laugh? Perhaps it is a movie, a humorous book, a silly pet, or a funny friend. Make sure you laugh every day by thinking about the things that make you happy.
Working out can be a great way to channel your energy and work off some steam. It makes you feel better, but it also has many positive benefits for your health. A good workout can help take the edge off when you're feeling stressed.
8. Practice Gratitude.
What you focus on grows. Focus on the good thing's in your life, develop an appreciation for all there is, and make a gratitude list or use a planner and gratitude journal; this will improve your mood and boost your self-confidence.
9. Ask for help.
We don't need to struggle alone or feel guilty for using up people's time. Perhaps you could get someone to do errands or watch the kids if you're completely exhausted. Work can also be delegated. Get help from others.
Remember that you haven't always had a smooth ride. It has always gotten better, even when you thought it wouldn't. When it feels like the world is against you, it isn't just you. You're not alone. Getting through hard times is challenging. Instead of allowing yourself to become more miserable, use your time and efforts to turn things around. Don't give up, and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
